Bureau Rabensteiner

Beginning to research into stationary design , i thought this set of stationary designed by Bureau Rebenstriner is so slick and fresh.

The items included in the set are essential and simple , i like how they have added and old school touch to the set by including a classic vintage wooden stamp, this certainly gives the stationary set individuality , just what a graphic designer would want/appreciate to be on their desk, which is what we need to be looking for and thinking about.

I like the use of paper used for simple but effective packaging

This designer has also produced a desktop essentials kit. An amazing concept and definitely something to think about in terms of pushing our idea of stationary.

Below there are some self production mail created by Bureau Rebensteiner showing the production and photographs of the desktop essentials.

They have also created a downloadable theme for your'e laptop / PC themed to match the other desktop essentials. What a great idea!

Stats / YCN

We noticed that their smallest consumer sector was Personal and commercial stationary. We are thinking of maybe focusing our concept on this sector in order to increase their market in this area by promoting theirs papers with our graphic design skills.
There could be alot of potential in terms of pushing ideas within designing for stationary.

Samples - Fedrigoni

I have e-mailed Fedrigoni and asked them for a few paper samples for our research. This will give us some inspiration in tersm of which stocks to consider , also to get a feel of their products and what we are trying to promote.
I will also e-mail various paper distributors and compare them with Fedrigonis for stat sources in terms of competition.

Sectors/ Consumers/ Audience - FEDRIGONI

Here is some simple info graphics taken from the Fedrigoni website showing their consumer markets.
The paper products are distributed to many markets and applicators from stationary to luxury packaging.
They have divided their products into eight main sectors , five of those sectors make up to 90% of their total revenue.

Printing and packaging
Suitable for both offset and digital printing machines, our printing paper is used for letterheads, billposters, mailings. Special papaers for luxury packaging, shoppers and lining.

Publishing and binding
Our papers enhance the tactile and visual qualities of any book. For covers, we supply marked, embossed and tinted paper with modern, light-stabilised pulp-dyed colours. For inner sections we offer high-opacity, laid and natural, and white and ivory styles.

Converting and adhesive
Our precision and speed in silicone and adhesive coating and other specialist formats make us the market leader in high-tech and highly attractive labels and adhesives, in both sheets and reels.

Office applications
We make paper in special office formats, such as FSC paper for printers and photocopiers. Our office papers have an optimal white point and perfect machining properties.

Security systems and banknotes
Our security features include metallic strips threaded into the paper, holograms, fibres and watermarks, all following exacting criteria. This makes us one of the few paper manufacturers certified to produce the Euro. Our expertise also qualifies us to make paper for any other specialist applications.

Modular Folds - Origami / Image

A trip to the library to teach myself different folds.

JUST INSPIRATION / YCN

looking at mixed media with photography.
I am liking the idea of 'mist', 'water' and 'landscapes' , still focusing on colour.

I am not sure where this is taking me but it is all part of the process.

Typeface , TOP TEN

Although it is quite un-readable and i think it is in a foreign language , i like the dynamic shapes within the letters. i am going to use a typeface similar to this in my sequence.

TOP TEN

Looking at some graphics posters for inspiration for my title sequence - space themed.
i really like the typeface's chosen in these posters.
The rustic , collage style goes really well with the sc-fi modernistic fonts.

Collage themed motion graphics

I have decided to use bits of collage in my title sequence and idents.
I have been looking at different styles of collage used within motion graphics and different moving images.

Here are some that i look a fancy to...

Audio

Some interesting audio choices in this piece of motion graphics , it is mechanical like, with tweeks and bursts of sound now and again. It is strange but i like it, something like this could work well in my idents as i am focusing on space and science.

Title Sequences

Beginning to research into space and science title sequences for inspiration.
I found this title sequences inspiring , audio wise also! I like the way the planets have images of different scientific moments , this is something i could consider as i am going to use images from the most read articles in my title sequence and maybe indents.

Here is different approach used for a Horizon Title sequence for a BBC documentary called 'playing god' about a scientific discovery of a new species of spider is also interesting and inspiring in terms of audio and motion graphics. Although there is alot of film used throughout, there is small pieces of motion graphics to do with cells multiplying and the television cracking up 'this creates a creepy scientific feel to the sequence' I also like the un-nerving noises with voice over is effective and could suit my title sequence.
